Little Big Town has hit the big time. The band that started out in the independent world is now one of the biggest acts in the country world. Their album, Tornado, just debuted at number one on the charts and number two on the Billboard 200 chart. The guys are coming off the biggest hit of their career.
Now, one thing the band has struggled with just a bit is finding followup hit singles. They seem ready to strike again with the title song from their album. Check out Tornado.
Tornado – Little Big Town
If there is one word that comes to mind when I listen to this song it’s “big”. This song has a big feeling almost like it’s this powerful pop song from the 1980s. There is a lot of production going on with this record. As the listener you’re kind of put in this mood of darkness and unease. You feel like something is happening and you’re not really sure what is going on.
The song has a mean, angry feeling. It sounds like someone is out for revenge on this track. LBT has had a few angry songs in the past. There is definitely that element in their music and it’s quite the contrast to the fun loving ease of Pontoon. But I like the change. It’s good to mix things up and really what makes this song really good is the melody. I can picture people tapping their feet along with this track and really getting into it.
I don’t know if Tornado will be another number one hit, but it certainly sounds like a hit. I think LBT is stumbling on something that is going to work for them. They’re a great band and deserve all the success they’re getting.
What do you think of the new song?
