I’ve been waiting on this for a little while. A year or so ago David Nail released some new music and on that album was a song, Brand New Day, that featured vocals from Aubrie Sellers.
When I saw that name it sparked a curiosity. The last name Sellers is pretty well known in Nashville because Jason Sellers has been a big time songwriter the last 10+ years.
And Aubrie’s mom is Lee Ann Womack, one of country all time best singers.
So even back then Aubrie was a country artist to watch and now we are treated to her new music.
Losing Ground – Aubrie Sellers
This song is definitely different from the type of country song you’ll hear on radio right now. It’s not the flirty song like Dibs that is hitting the airwaves, but I think that’s a good thing.
I like Dibs and it sure sounds like a hit, but there is room on the charts for all kinds of different songs.
The song seems to be about life and how it can really be a struggle sometimes. There are some pretty real life situations explained in the lyrics; things that all kinds of people are dealing with today including how fast doctors will hand out drugs when people are feeling a little down.
This is pretty serious stuff, but all too common for people of all ages. And I don’t think it takes someone of a certain age to feel like they’re losing ground in life or to recognize that fact.
The vocals are top notch. Aubrie has a really unique voice. You can hear a little bit of her mom in there, but it also sounds different in a good way. It has a traditional sound while still sounding fresh. It’s a great mix.
I like this song and I’m hoping it does well.
