Marty Stuart popped up on the country albums chart this past week. Nothing too crazy with the numbers or anything, but it’s always interesting to me when albums kind of sneak in under the mainstream radar.
Marty Stuart has been a star in country music for over 25 years. I guess it’s probably going on 30 years now. His duets with Travis Tritt in the ’90s were great.
It looks like this new album is a dedication to the old American West.
Let’s check out one of the songs.
Lost On The Desert – Marty Stuart
Now this is some cowboy music. The first thing I thought of was Marty Robbins and his old songs like El Paso. It just has that type of western sound that was really popular in country music in the ’50s and ’60s.
Just cool sounds that make you feel like you’re watching and old western or something like that. I just got finished watching Hell On Wheels on Netflix and this kind of music reminds of that. Just people out in the wild west trying to do what they can to survive.
This song sounds like a story about a guy that’s on the wrong side of the law. We don’t know the full back story or why he had to resort to stealing to make his way, but that’s what happened and now it sounds like his time is coming to an end.
It’s pretty cool that Marty is making music and making music like this. I know he’s a stalwart on the Opry. Maybe we’ll get some video of this song.
