I never thought I would be writing about a Steven Tyler country song, but here we are.
Steven has been in the music industry for more than 40 years. It’s probably closer to 50. His band, Aerosmith, is often recognized as the biggest American rock band of all time.
He’s not the first rockstar to try country music and he won’t be the last. There is a little pushback on what Steven is doing, but let’s give this one a chance.
Love Is Your Name – Steven Tyler
The production is certainly country. It’s actually more country than a lot of the songs you hear on country radio today.
And a quick note, but that opening kind of reminds me of the cartoon Doug from back in the ’90s.
Anyway, this is a pretty good song. I like it. The melody is catchy and I think Steven does a great job of toning things back to really communicate the emotion in the song. And the music on the song really comes through strong.
I can’t tell if this song is about someone or if it’s about love the emotion. Maybe the song was meant to have broad appeal in that respect.
It’s nice to see a rockstar come in without singing about all the rockstar things like dancing girls, drinking and that whole bit. There is actually a little too much of that in country right now and people see through it.
I like what Steven has done. He’s obviously talented. He has a good label behind this one. It might be a surprising hit this year.
