Lately I’ve been hearing a song off Luke Bryan‘s latest album. Drinkin’ Beer And Wastin’ Bulletshas been a song after my own heart. The tune is about Luke sitting out in the woods waiting for a deer to come by. To pass the time he drinks a few beers and wastes a few bullets.
I love Drinkin’ Beer And Wastin’ Bulletsbecause it brings back memories of my own hunting experiences. The guys in my hunting party and I would hang out in one of our two-man hunting shacks (about half the size of an ice shanty) overlooking a valley. We’d wait for deer during the evening and to pass the time we’d shoot the bull and drin…play some cribbage.
I see that my good blogging buddy Mark took notice of the song too over at his blog Wired to Hunt.
Although I don’t condone drinking while hunting, this is still a fun song to listen to and any song that talks about sitting on the deer stand is a good one in my opinion.
Check out Wired to Hunt for great insight into whitetail hunting.
Here are a few more notes on Luke Bryan’s latest tune:
Luke’s been playing the tune out on tour…
Luke Bryan, the recently named 2010 American Country Music Top New Artist, followed Gokey and those who missed him are sure to be sorry. He spent a solid 40 minutes belting out the hits from his first two albums.
“Country Man,” “Do I,” and “Rain is a Good Thing” had the crowd singing along with him. He played the song he hopes to be his next single, “Someone Else Calling You Baby,” suffering a broken guitar string in the middle. The end of his set included “We Rode in Trucks,” “Drinkin’ Beer, Wastin’ Bullets,” and “All My Friends Say,” with the last including a cover of Metallica’s “Sandman” smack in the middle.
This is also kind of funny and proof that there’s a new up-and-coming hunter in the Bryan family…
So what is little Bo’s favorite Luke Bryan song? “‘Drinkin’ Beer and Wastin’ Bullets,’ ironically,” Luke says with a chuckle.
