Earlier this year Dierks Bentley released a collection of original and some classic bluegrass tunes. It was a creative step some questioned and others championed. What would make a rising country artist risk their growing momentum by confusing their fans?
The truth is Dierks put out a great album of bluegrass songs. It was probably something Dierks felt interested in doing so he went ahead and did it. I’m sure a few of his fans were confused, but I’m sure some bluegrass fans were impressed.
The first single from the bluegrass album was Up On The Ridge. The song was the title track from the album and it sure sounded different than other Dierks tracks. Now Dierks and his team have released the 2nd single from the album.
Draw Me A Mapis the official 2nd release and it’s one of the seemingly more popular tracks on the album. My girlfriend was listening to the album one night and that song was one of her favorites. She actually told me that I had to write about it. I told her I liked the song and would wait to to see if the song was released as a single. I try to wait until you guys really want to read something before I post it.
Up On The Ridgemade it nearly into the top 20 on the country singles charts. Draw Me A Mapis at #41 on the charts this week. With the buzz this song is getting and based on the response my girlfriend had to the song I’m guessing this tune may have a chance at a higher mark.
It’s a slow ballad with a great theme – a lost guy trying to find his way back to the one he still loves.
