It’s already a big 2011 for Miranda Lambert.
Miranda is fresh off some major wins again at the country awards. Her latest single is in the top ten and seemingly climbing toward the top. It’s been a good few years for the Nashville Star third place contestant.
So what will the rest of the year have in store for Miranda besides getting hitched?
Well I think there’s room for one or even two more singles from her last album. A song I think deserves a shot at radio is Me and Your Cigarettes. It’s a neat little tune with clever wordplay and a great melody. I think it’d have a chance with the country audience out there.
I’ve written about Miranda and Me and Your Cigarettes before back in August of 2010. From the start it seems this was a track I’ve liked on the album. The melody is pretty cool. It’s got a laid back feeling with just the right emotion for the topic. I love songs that compare relationships with people to the relationships we have with other things…like cigarettes or other vices. Relationships really are vices in some cases.
In this case the narrator enjoys the moment with the cigarette and the opposite sex. They’ll probably regret it in the morning, but it soothes the nerves so well the night before.
What a great way to express how love…or lust…can be sometimes.
A great song from Miranda. She’s making a habit on creating great songs these days.
