For decades country artists have released full length albums filled with good music. Albums usually yield about 3 hit singles on radio. Some special albums yield 4 or even 5 or more singles. This is a rarity and it’s often unfortunate.

Since there are only a few singles released to radio there are more than a few album cuts that never make it to the speakers of common country fans. The tragedy of the matter is that great songs are often missed by the fans that don’t purchase the full length album.

Artists enjoy putting together full length albums. Often albums will have a central theme that will allow the artist to figure out and understand something that’s going on in their lives at the time. It’s creative release and it’s rewarding for artists to put a collection together that fans are willing to pay to see. Even though all the songs from an album likely won’t be heard by many other than hardcore fans there is no reason we can’t share some of those songs here.

This is a groovy tune from a rising country superstar. Miranda Lambert is heading out on her own headlining tour this fall and she’ll likely hit the road playing a few of her great album cuts. One of those great songs is Me And Your Cigarettes. The song is from Miranda’s latest release Revolutionso there is still a chance it could become a single. The song is another classic from Miranda. She has a way of telling a story like no other. Miranda picks out an emotion and turns it into great imagery and melody and finds a way to connect with her audience. It’s country music at its finest.

Doin’ My Thing – Luke Bryan

Luke Bryan is on a roll right now. His second album has yielded two top hits and a third is already quickly climbing the charts. The title track from his latest album is Doin’ My Thing. It’s a fun song that is pure country. You can hear the authenticity in Luke’s vocals and the stories he tells are full of country down to the core. The thing that makes Luke Bryan different is his unique ability to tell common stories in a way that is fresh and fun. He is able to make Doin’ My Thinga feel-good country song without dipping into the hackneyed and overused country themes. He doesn’t overdo it with the words and he lets his good ole boy charm lead the way on most of the songs. And that makes for good country music that goes good with a Saturday night.

Easy Does It – Jake Owen

Jake Owen has many die hard country fans and there is good reason for it. He has a charming voice that is deep and rugged. The title track from his sophomore set is Easy Does It. The song hasn’t been released as a single and it likely won’t be, but it is a great song nonetheless. Easy Does Itis another easy going love song from Owen. The tune is about spending some quality time with the one you love. The tune fits the title perfectly and the images in the song make for one romantic image. This song will put guys and gals in the mood for a little loving. It’s playful. It’s sexy and it’s fun. Jake Owen is finding his niche in country music with the love-themed romantic tunes. Easy Does It is a great example.
