Here is a new band for us at CML. They have a really cool sound that kind of reminds me a bit of the Dixie Chicks from about twenty years or so ago.
But this group also has their own style. A little more edge. Kind of like Brandy Clark and Kacey Musgraves. Maybe a little Miranda in there too.
And people have been loving all those acts.
On a side note – I miss the Dixie Chicks. They really had some great songs.
Anyway, let’s check out one of the new songs from Campbell Station. They have a new EP out and we’ll check the very first track. It’s a catchy one about what I think is a breakup or at least a woman that is realizing a guy is no good for her.
Misery – Campbell Station
It sounds like there was a guy in the situation that was doing a little cheating. Maybe he was trying to have the best of multiple worlds. Or he was just a player from the start. He drew in this woman and she feel for it for a time.
But now she’s seeing through it. The guy may or may not care about what happened, but she’s moving on and doesn’t really care anymore.
So that’s what’s going on with the lyrics. A pretty classic country situation. But behind those lyrics is a really cool sound. I think that’s the main story here.
It looks like Campbell Station is independent right now. Maybe this new release will get them some attention. They sound good.
