It’s always good to have new music from Zac Brown Band. The guys wrapped up their last album and singles just this past year. They had a great song for the summer and it was a pretty good hit.
But they took some time to regroup it seems and now they’re ready to rev things back up in 2017. The first single is out. It looks like the album is due out in May. And it looks like they have a new label partnership again.
Let’s check out this first single.
My Old Man – Zac Brown Band
It’s not new to have a song about a father in country music. Many artists have done songs like this and there’s a good reason for it. Parents are incredibly important in our lives. Some make us crazy. Some we love like crazy. And there are all kinds of emotions in between.
This version I first thought might be a cover of the Joey + Rory song, but it appears to be brand new. It seems personal. I don’t know if it’s specifically about Zac’s own father. It sounds like the father has passed on and that the son is looking back on all the lessons and those things.
That’s kind of how life goes with any family member of mentor. They teach you things, but eventually they have to pass on and we’re left with the memories.
This song is personal and emotional. That comes across. The guys put the proper Zac Brown Band treatment on this one and it comes across great.
