Now this is some really good country music. This song just kind of rolls on. It reminds me of something Restless Heart used to put out. They had those songs that just kind of felt and sounded like they were moving. They’re great for playing in the car or in the truck as you’re riding down the backroads through the country.
Check out this new one by Brian Collins.
Never Really Left – Brian Collins
A lot of country artists are like gypsies. I think they have to be in order to live the life of a musician. They’re pulled toward the road. They want to see new things and they want to be experiencing different feelings and emotions. They can’t really settle down for long.
But the hook in this song is that the narrator is looking back on where he came from. He’s talking about his hometown and while he may be far away and in a number of different places at any time he’s always the guy that left that town. In that way, who he is never changes and that means he never really left that hometown. It’s had too much of an influence on him.
I like that sentiment and I really like the song. It’s catchy and it gets you tapping your foot.
But I want to hear your thoughts. What do you think of this one from Brian Collins?
