William Clark Green is an artist that I haven’t heard of until recently. But it seems like I’m usually one of the last people to find out about artists that have been around for awhile building their audience and their career the old fashioned way…through hard work and persistency.
William is a country artist from Texas. And I’m continually impressed with the country music being made in Texas. It’s real country. It’s rooted in the styles of country that really speak to the rural audiences out there.
That’s kind of the theme of this song. William has a live album coming out soon and this song will be featured there, but we’re going to look back on the studio version.
Old Fashioned – William Clark Green
The first thing that stands out to me on this one is the style and the sound. It’s reminds me of that Texas country style. The first time I really got into Texas country was Pat Green back in the early 2000s. He quickly became one of my favorites at the time. William kind of has that style. And there’s even a little steel guitar in there!
The song seems to be about the way life is being lived right now. Everything is always changing. Some things change for the better, but some things change maybe for the worse. This song kind of looks at the important values in life and making sure that we don’t move on from those. We have to remember what we stand for and what’s important to us and keep that with us as we move on in time.
This is a good song. I like it a lot. I don’t know how it will do at radio or anything, but it’s one worth checking out.
