A great version of a great song.
Let’s check-in with Wade Bowen. It’s been a little while since we’ve seen what he’s been doing. That’s too long of a time especially because he’s been so busy.
One of the projects that Wade worked on and released earlier this year was an album of hymns. It looks like it was a dedication to his mother. That’s a really cool thing to do. I don’t know the details of the dedication, but it’s a wonderful thing to do for a parent.
We know that these songs mean a lot to people out there. Alan Jackson has done two of this type of album and his fans loved them both.
Here is a traditional song from Wade’s release.
Old Rugged Cross – Wade Bowen
Does is really get any better than these old traditional songs? They have great melodies. They aren’t all tricked up with sounds and things like that to make them good. They’re the best kind of good: simple.
Many country artists have covered this song over the last half century. It’s been part of country music almost as much as it’s been part of the church. There has always been a good amount of crossover, but this is one of those songs that seems to have a special place in country music.
I think Wade definitely does the song justice. It’s a great version. You can feel the emotion without the song being over the top or anything like that.
Great song from a great album.
