Eric Church released a huge collection of live performances from his tour that he was on throughout 2017. Maybe from a little before too, but I think mostly from 2017.
Different songs from different venues. Pretty much all his hits and a collection of covers and albums cuts.
There are 61 songs in total. I wasn’t really sure what song I should kind of feature here on the blog.
I love hit songs. When you hear a song on the radio or stream it on Spotify or on YouTube or hear it in a movie it connects with you. It stamps a memory. So hits are important.
But one cool thing with live records like this is that artists often do covers. Maybe of songs you really didn’t know existed. And that too stamps that concert and experience in your memory.
So here’s a cover that Eric did that stands out to me from this collection.
Ophelia – Eric Church
This one was just catchy. I’m working my way through all 61 of the songs. So many great ones. Eric does a great job on his songs and on some covers. But for some reason this one was funky, fun and catchy. The lyrics are a little sad, but it’s an enjoyable experience.
I had to do a little digging to figure out what song this was. You may already know that it’s from The Band. It was released in 1975. And it sounds like something from that era. It looks like the song did crack the Hot 100 back in that time. Maybe not a huge hit, but a pretty nice hit.
A nice little tip of the cap to rock and roll and folk from Eric Church.
