It’s been an unusual year for Chris Stapleton. Everyone close to the country music industry seemed to love this guy and his music. He’s had his songs recorded by other artists and those songs have become hits.
Then seemingly out of nowhere Chris started winning awards, big awards. And that kind of broke him into the mainstream. After he started winning everything his album started selling in huge numbers and he had his first hit at radio.
Now another song is ready for radio and it’s a good one.
Parachute – Chris Stapleton
This one has a really cool sound. It has that rock and country voice that makes it a fit for country music, but it also kind of reminds me of music from years back. Maybe the late ’80s and early ’90s. It’s got some adult contemporary feel to it almost like a pop song that would have come out 20 years ago from Sting or Richard Marx or someone like that.
Chris’s voice, though, makes this one really unique to him. It has a really cool sound and it’s catchy and cool. It seems like it’s ready for country radio, but you never know. I would think that the folks at radio would be ready for a song from this guy since he’s had such a huge year.
I wasn’t sure exactly what the lyrics were about. It seems like it’s a guy that’s watching a woman kind of go through a breakup or a hard time in life and that he’ll be there for her.
