Kelsea Ballerini is really one of the great stories in country music. She’s on an independent, small record label. She co-wrote all the songs on her debut album. When she first came out a year or so ago women weren’t really getting played on the radio (it’s still crazy to write that).
But her first two singles have become number one songs at radio. That’s pretty incredible. Now it’s time for the third single and it’s another good one.
Peter Pan – Kelsea Ballerini
I’m going to go ahead and say that this will be another number one hit for Kelsea. Yes, things could happen and it could be held out of the top spot, but this song sounds like a hit.
When I hear the lyrics I think that I can’t believe no one has thought of these lyrics before. You have a young woman that’s in a relationship and wants the young guy to grow up, but he’s not ready yet. And he really might never grow up.
Who doesn’t know someone like that? They’re forever living as a lost person and kind of stuck between being an adult and being a kid. They don’t want to or can’t grow up.
The idea of Peter Pan kind of turned around as being a bad thing. It’s nice to think that we are all kids at heart, but it’s important to grow up.
This song is something a little different from Kelsea. I think it was a great choice for the next single. I really like it.
