One of the surprise hits of the summer was Buy Me A Boat by Chris Janson.
Chris had been kicking around Nashville for a long time. He’d been writing songs for other artists. He’d had a few deals and a couple singles out, but nothing that would establish him as a here-to-stay artist.
That was until that catchy single caught on and then got pushed up the charts. I think it was one of the best songs of the years.
Now it’s time to followup that hit with another one. Let’s checkout the next single.
Power Of Positive Drinkin’ – Chris Janson
What I’m starting to really like about Chris Janson is that you can tell when one of his songs comes on the radio. In this case I guess it’s Spotify, but even still you hear that unique quality to Chris’s voice and you know it’s him.
And you get the same kind of smirky good time feeling on this one. You see a guy that is kind of down on life for some reason and he just feels like, whatever, this is the way it is and I’m still going to have a good time anyway.
We got that on Boat and it really worked and this one kind of continues.
The song is about a guy that just had his woman leave him. The song is upbeat, though. It’s not the kind of kiss off song you might expect. He seems to kind of know why she left.
Then the song kicks into the power of positive drinking, which is kind of what it’s all about in this case. The girl is gone. She’s not coming back. Might as well have a good time while we can.
Chart Estimate: #10
