Here is another good country song from a young rising country artist. This one has a really cool sound. It’s got that edge to it that we really only get from the younger artists looking to do something different while appealing to people their own age. But I think Jillian Jacqueline might find an wider country audience with this one. It’s good.
Prime – Jillian Jacqueline
This one kind of falls into the new music from Maren Morris, Kacey Musgraves and also a little Kelsea Ballerini. Jillian Jacqueline is singing about what it’s like being young right now. She’s observed that older people often talk about what life was like back in their primes. They look fondly back on life. I think that’s common.
Jillian Jacqueline is looking at it like she’s living in her prime right now. So she’s going to enjoy it. She’s going to do the things she wants to do. It doesn’t sound like she’s going to be reckless. It seems more about understanding that we only live one life so why live it by someone else’s rules? Why do something just because someone told us that we should?
Part of being young is figuring out what you want to do in life. Then when you do figure it out you can just go for it. We can all make excuses to not do something, but maybe we should be making excuses to do those things. Instead of sitting back and dreaming about it we should take the jump because maybe there isn’t a right time.
Really good song. I like this one a lot.
