Randy Travis is one of my all time favorite artists.
The man has been releasing great music for 25 years. He celebrated the occasion earlier this year with a new album of his classic tracks and some new songs. Randy recorded them as duets with some of today’s greatest artists. Here is one of the new ones recorded with Tim McGraw – Can’t Hurt A Man…
Can’t Hurt A Man – Randy Travis and Tim McGraw
This song has passion, emotion and character. There are no songs on country radio like this right now. This is the kind of song Randy used to take right to the top of the charts back in the late ’80s. The addition of Tim McGraw on the song is great as well. Tim adds a little bit of new country to complement Randy’s old school traditional sound.
These two heavyweights do well on Can’t Hurt A Man. The song is about a man that’s been burned and left for dead over the years. His woman is gone. He’s come to accept it. The thing is…you can’t a hurt a man that really doesn’t have anything to lose anymore. He’s already so down on his luck that he can’t go any lower. This woman tried to hurt him, but he’s got nothing left to feel so he doesn’t worry about the pain anymore.
The song is sad. It’s one of those great country songs that has feeling and emotion. You don’t always get songs like this on country radio anymore. There is real emotion and passion here. I think that’s why Randy and Tim recorded it. They probably knew it never had a chance on today’s country radio, but the fans of traditional country music will love this one.
I figured I had to share it with the CML Community. We love new country songs here and there is a special place for new country throwback songs on Country Music Life.
What do you think?
