Rascal Flatts first broke onto the country scene in 2000. It was a time of change in country music. The guys were part of a wave in country music that was taking things back toward the pop sounds of the ’80s. It was a little Restless Heart and Little Texas, but these guys were also compared to the Backstreet Boys and N’Sync. It was hard not to see the comparison since those two pop bands were the biggest acts in the world at the time.
Looking back now it’s really incredible to see how Rascal Flatts have managed to remain relevant. They’ve continued releasing top songs as singles and it’s kept them going strong even through a label change. With their new song they sing about change in life. It’s a powerful song and one that should reach quite a few people out there.
Changed – Rascal Flatts
The subject matter of the song is about a guy that goes through some difficult things in life. Through it all he comes out on the other side as a changed man. That’s a big event for the person on the song and Rascal Flatts conveys that feeling to the crowd.
There are a lot of people in the world that want to change. When there is a story like this shared it gives hope that maybe I can change too. That’s the feeling fans will get from this song.
What I like most about the song is the soaring high guitar. Joe Don obviously has some of his heart back in the ’80s with the rock bands. I think that’s pretty cool because you get these loud guitar parts that just scream and get you all jacked up.
This song could have been released as a power ballad, but we get it today as a great country song.
