I live in Wisconsin. March is always the most difficult month up here.
That’s my take anyway.
A couple weeks ago we had weather in the 60s. It seemed like spring was here. Then we got dumped on with a foot of snow and since then it’s been back down in the teens, 20s and maybe creeping into the 30s.
It’s a long go this time of year before the warm weather is here to stay. People get antsy. They get itchy.
They need a road trip.
And that’s what Cameron Hawthorn is bringing us with this song.
Road Trip – Cameron Hawthorn
The road has always been a little mystique in American life. The road means freedom. The road means the ability to get away from life for awhile.
Cameron Hawthorn is new to us I believe here at CML. He has a pleasant voice. Kind of breezy and that’s the air this song takes on.
The lyrics are pretty straight ahead with what you would expect with the theme and the title. It’s about having a good time and getting away from the day to day grind.
If you work all week and look forward to the weekend you can relate to this one. It’s not that you necessarily hate your job. You’re glad that you have work and that you can pay the bills.
It’s just that sometimes things get draining and you need to get away.
Lots of things about this song are familiar, but it works. And the more I listen the more I like it.
What are your thoughts on this one?
