It seems like it’s been an interesting year or so for the guys in Eli Young Band. They had a big number one hit off their last album and followed that up with another #15 hit. I thought they might release the title track for that album, 10,000 Towns. That was a great song.
But they moved on from that album and released a single last year that did okay. So maybe it’s been a little quiet for them the last year or at least few months, but they’re back now and ready to ramp things up with this new single.
Saltwater Gospel – Eli Young Band
A few of the their songs have been on the introspective side. They kind of look at life and what the meaning of it all is. And there has seemed to be a sense that maybe we’re not meant to figure it out. Maybe we’re just supposed to experience the moments and I think that’s a little of what this song is about.
It’s about a person that’s kind of losing himself in the moment at a place that’s important to him. He’s spending time down by the ocean where he’s alone with his thoughts and alone with the world. He pays attention to the details, the water going back and forth and that’s a religious experience for him.
This is a good song. It’s a different kind of summer song. It’s not about a party, but it’s still about an important aspect of life.
I like it. What are your thoughts on this one?
