Sawyer Brown has the energy and passion on the stage of a band fresh off the sideline looking to breakout in country music. But the guys in Sawyer Brown have been on the road and in the studio for 25 years now and there is no letting up in their live show.
This past Saturday in Eau Claire, WI the guys took the stage at 7:15pm and the fans cheered for all the songs. A common phrase at a Sawyer Brown concert for the casual country fan is “I didn’t know they sang this song!”. Sawyer Brown has been churning out hits for decades now with most of their biggest hits coming in the early and mid ’90s.
The crowd had been suffering through the 90 degree heat all afternoon and by 7pm everybody was getting a little worn out. That all changed though as soon as Mark Miller began shaking his hips and belting out classic country tunes. Fans began singing and dancing along as eyes lit up with each surprise hit the band played.
The Sawyer Brown show hasn’t changed much in the last few years. The show begins rocking with Six Days On The Road, slows down a bit with The Walk and picks back up again a cover of the Alabamaclassic Dixieland Delight. And there is nothing like the energy in the crowd when the guys leave the stage only to come back to play their biggest hit Some Girls Do.
It’s been about five years since they least released a new album, but the guys are prepping to release another set this fall. The song from the new set was Traveling Band. The song has the guys looking back at their history together. It’s a slower song with passion and emotion. It’s a little catchy and will hopefully find some airplay on radio once it hits the airwaves. Fans will sure be wanting some more rocking tunes from the guys as well when the new album comes out.
If you haven’t seen a Sawyer Brown concert yet get out to one as soon as you can. You won’t regret it…
