I jumped the gun yesterday with the next single for Scotty McCreery…here is his actual third single.
It’s not news for a country artist to sing about life in a small town.
What is news is that Scotty McCreery has found a new way to sing about small town life. Check out his third single, Water Tower Town.
Water Tower Town – Scotty McCreery
This topic isn’t new. We’ve heard about small town life in a million country songs. Some of the same scenes and topics are covered here in this track. What I think makes Water Tower Town different, though, is the melody and Scotty’s voice.
Some folks nag on songs that cover familiar ground. But if artists stopped looking for new ways to express topics we’d run out of songs about love and life. I like when a song can put a new twist on a familiar topic. For those of us that do live in a water tower town or grew up in one, this song has a special meaning. It makes us remember the days of growing up and it makes us think about how good life is right now in our small town.
The song talks about growing corn and low crime levels. There are also football games on Friday night and plenty of sweet tea to go around all weekend. Plus you have the good hard working folks that have good hard working trucks. It’s the truth so why not sing about it.
My small town life was pretty much the same. Everybody could see the water tower from the edge of town. It had the name of the city written in big letters. In the town there was plenty of things to do in the summertime. There were sports like little league and basketball. You could pretty much name names when you walked in the grocery store on a Sunday after church.
Small town life is a good life. I remember the water tower in my old town.
And that memory is thanks to this great song from Scotty McCreery.
