You know that I like checking in on things over at CMT Edge.
It’s this really cool blog that has all these great songs from a lot of artists you probably haven’t heard of before. The fact that we haven’t heard from them before is kind of the point, but don’t let it fool you. These artists are all really good. They’re just kind of on the edge of country and don’t really fall into any genre really.
Well anyway, we have a new song from Alana Amram and it’s a good one.
Should I Go Now – Alana Amram
This song is probably more country than any country song you’ll hear on radio today. It’s got this really old feel to it in both sound and lyric.
The song seems to be about love and a difficult situation. You can feel the confusion and struggle in Alana’s voice. It’s something you can relate to as you listen to it.
But more than that I think the story of this song is the sound of it. I keep closing my eyes when I listen and I just think that I’m in some tavern in the 1950s. Everything is quiet as everyone there drinks alone as this song plays quietly in the background on the jukebox. The cracks and pops of the vinyl are there in all there glory.
That is the real reason I like this song even though there is a lot to like.
Give it another listen and let me know your thoughts.
