The Canadian country music scene has always been really strong.
Perhaps the biggest success from our neighbor to the north is Shania Twain. But we’ve also had stars like Terri Clark and Paul Brandt.
And there are a number of others that have had success in their home country and in the US.
Newcomer Lindsay Ell had a top 50 hit in the US just last year. She’s trying to breakthrough and her new single could be the one that catches the attention of folks in the US.
Give it a listen and see what you think.
Shut Me Up – Lindsay Ell
This song is really rocking. There are definitely rock influences in Lindsay’s music. And you know that Terri Clark liked to bring a little edgy rock to her music back in the day. Up there in Canada they know how to rock.
And it’s obvious why the song is rocking. It’s about a woman that has been wronged by a guy. There is too much of that going around. Us guys need to figure out how to treat these women right.
The narrator is pissed and she’s going to let everybody know what a creep this guy turned out to be. He took her down and she’s going to return the favor to him.
There is lots of emotion in this song and the entire thing is catchy. Plus I know you’re going to love the lyric about duct tape. Did you hear it?
What are your thoughts on the new song and on Lindsay Ell?
