It’s Wednesday and that means we’re looking back on an album cut song that didn’t make it as a single (at least not yet) that maybe should get a little more recognition that it currently has.
It’s often the case with great albums that there just isn’t time for all the songs to be released as singles. I think that was the case with Kacey Musgraves’s album Same Trailer, Different Park. That album is and was something special and this song we’re looking at today was I think the first track on the album.
Silver Lining – Kacey Musgraves
Kacey might be the most country of country artists out there. Her songs are about real life and that kind of scares people these days. She’s not singing about the old traditional things that have been in country.
But she’s singing about the things country folks are experiencing and that’s why she’s had so much success. That and she knows how to find some great country melodies.
I love this song. It’s about how life will give you all kinds of difficult situations. It can wreck people if they let it, but if you can stick it out and find that silver lining you can find and experience the good in life.
The tone of the song is really great. It kind of falls into the low, slow setting that is about how you feel when you’re at the bottom.
But it also kind of brings you up throughout the song in soft and subtle ways. That and there is also the fun little bridge that is kind of clap-along.
Great song from Kacey. She just released her new album this week. I’ve listened to it all the way through a few times and it’s great. It also made me listen to the first record again a few times and it’s a great record and this is a great song.
