Here is something pretty unique. It’s a little on the edge of country music, but I like it.
There’s room in country for a lot of different sub genres. Bobby Bones has talked on his podcast recently about how he thinks country radio will have a place for different types.
Maybe a handful of rap-influenced songs. Some really traditional stuff. And maybe some folk and Americana stuff, which is where this one is.
I’ve never heard of Jo and Swiss Knife before so let’s check this one out.
Sit and Enjoy – Jo and Swiss Knife
I didn’t do any background on the band. I’ll probably look into them after posting this. I wanted to just listen to the song and see what was going on.
For the first minute I wasn’t sure what was going on. Things start out slow, but then quickly take off when you make it past that first minute. Then it really kicks into that old school folk music. It makes me feel like I’m at the local fair or festival where a great folk band is playing. Maybe they’re playing on the small stage, but usually they have a huge group surrounding them. All ages.
I think the song is about getting ready for the show. That’s my guess. And it’s good advice for anyone watching a concert today.
I’m all for using phones and technology, but sometimes it’s good to just sit and enjoy. Let your senses take it all in. Don’t worry about capturing the moment. Just take it in. The great memories will stick with you and you don’t really need the rest.
