Here is one from one of the biggest artists down in Texas. It looks like this one is going to chase for the number one spot on the Texas music chart. After listening to it a couple times I have to say that it does sound like it become a number one.
Check it out.
Smile That Smile – Curtis Grimes
I like the music coming out of Nashville, but there is something about that music down in Texas that brings me back to the ’90s in country music. They are the ones still using the fiddles and harmonicas. They still use guitars and not with all the electric get up.
There is some of that, but it’s not in your face like the music in Nashville right now. There it’s almost like they’re trying to hit you over the head with noise just to get your attention.
Alright, back to the song from Curtis.
It’s a pretty straightforward, simple love song. But that’s what it really has going for it. The production is leveled back and the lyrics are allowed to come forward. It’s an ode to the person the guy cares about the most. He’s just reflecting on the love he has for this person and he gets lost in the day.
With all the craziness that can happen in life these days it’s easy to get lost thinking about the past or wondering about the future. But sometimes you get those moments when you snap back into the present and you appreciate the good things you have.
That’s kind of what this song makes me think about.
I like, but what are your thoughts?
