I’m pretty pumped about the news that Miranda Lambert’s next single will be Smokin’ And Drinkin’. I’ve listened to the songs on her new record and as usual they are all great. But I kept coming back to this one again and again. I don’t know what it is. I’ll give it a listen again and try to provide my thoughts.
Smokin’ And Drinkin’ – Miranda Lambert
Fresh off her Song Of The Year award for Automatic, Miranda remains at the top of the country world. And there really aren’t many females getting played on radio right now other than Miranda. It’s kind of a shame, but it shows even more how well-liked Miranda is by just about all country fans.
I think it’s her ability to be different. She has always brought her own attitude and take on life to her music. She seems to always look for that new sound and that new way to put a spin on the things that happen in life.
This is another example. The song is about looking back on life. It’s about hanging with friends and enjoying the good old days. Times seemed simpler and maybe they were, but the song lives in the moment and shows how a simple act like having a smoke or having a drink can spark a memory.
But I like the sound on this one the most. You don’t hear anything like this out there on the radio right now, but it’s good. And that’s why it should be a big payoff for Miranda. Great track.
