Earlier this year the pop/rock group Sister Hazel put out a new album. That normally wouldn’t register in the country world, but the band was saying that their new album had a little bit of a country focus.
A little backstory…the first concert my wife and I went to when we were dating was a Sister Hazel show. They were past their prime and hits, but they still played a good show.
My wife and I realized, though, that a crowded and noisy concert wasn’t the best place for one of the first dates. You can’t really talk to each other, but it worked out in the end.
Anyway, let’s get into this new single from Sister Hazel.
Something To Believe In – Sister Hazel
If you’re still wondering who Sister Hazel is then search for their song All For You. That was their big hit and their first single that came out in the mid to late ’90s. It’s still really good and catchy.
With that in mind we can approach this new one and you can definitely hear the pop elements in this song. But I can see that there is a little bit of country in there as well.
The song seems to be a mix of life and love. I think it’s about a guy that’s kind of reflecting on the choices he’s made in life and looking at how things have worked out. Some bad things have occurred, but he’s not too worried about regrets or anything like that.
And in the end he seems to have something to believe in and someone to love so it’s all worked out pretty well.
