We’re doing something different on this Wednesday. Normally Wednesday is the day I go back and find a song that is really good, but that was never released as a single.
But today we’re doing something different. We’re looking at a very recent performance of a classic from one of the best singers of all time.
You know the song and you know the artist: Stand By Me performed by Tracy Chapman.
It was originally performed by Ben E. King, but it’s been covered many times over the years. And Tracy really knocks it out of the park on this one.
It’s hard to describe the way she performs, but every time I listen to her songs or watch her perform on a video like this I just get pulled in. She has a way of capturing your attention and making you feel the emotions she’s singing about.
Dave Letterman is retiring pretty soon and I think he’s been getting a little sentimental, but he’s done things like this in the past. And how could you blame him? He’s been doing this for decades. I think it’s awesome that he got Tracy to come on the show and it’s really cool that she did the performance.
It’s a great song from one of the best artists of all time. It’s one to be enjoyed.
And it has me wondering who could do a song like this in country music. I have a few people in mind, but maybe you can share your thoughts in the comments.
