I’ve been wanting to do this song for a few weeks. I’m not sure if this is the right YouTube video. If there’s a different one let me know, but we’ll go with this one for now.
These two guys, Randy Rogers and Wade Bowen, have been making great music for a long time. They’re down there on Texas music scene and they tell their current story on this song.
Standards – Randy Rogers & Wade Bowen
I’ve come around to realize that the only traditional country music coming out these days is down in Texas. If you listen to the songs on that chart you’ll hear some songs that remind you of Randy Travis and the ’90s country all the way back to the ’70s country.
But those guys and gals are doing their own things too. It’s traditional, but it also has a fresh feel to it as well.
And this song is great. We have two guys that have never had a mainstream country radio hit. You just don’t hear their songs on the radio or anywhere with the likes of Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan.
But these guys are just as good and they poke a little fun at that fact with this song. They say they have standards instead of hits, but I like the line that says they would like to have a big hit someday. But they want to do it their way.
I hope that comes true because country music would be better off for it.
