Stealing Angels are back with a new song.
The all girl trio first came into the country world last summer with their first single. I was at Country Jam in Eau Claire last July when the girls played in the afternoon. They were the opening act on Saturday I think. It’s hard to get the attention of the people at the grounds when you play at 2pm, but these girls were able to bring some fans in and even get them to sit down and pay attention.
My girlfriend and I sat and watched their entire set. There was something about them that was catchy, fun, and interesting. I don’t know if they’ll have a big career in country music, but I’m a fan of their songs up to this point including He Better Be Dead, which I thought was harsh, but my girlfriend totally got it.
The new track for 2011 is Paper Heart. I’m not entirely sure if the paper stands for the fragile nature of the girl to stay away from love. I think the song is about a girl that thought she was strong enough to staty away from love, but it only took one boy to make her fall in love again. That’s the happy interpretation.
The other interpretation I had of Paper Heart was the woman had her heart broken yet again by a bad guy. He took her heart and ripped it apart. Those lyrics aren’t in the song so this one is probably a way wrong understanding.
Let’s stick with the happy version.
Beyond that the song has a cool sound. There is passion in the vocals and a bit of innocence, which I think is genuine and intriguing. These girls have some talent and maybe this song could break them a little further into the country music world this year.
