It was a slow burner, but slowly and steadily Brantley Gilbert’s last single, One Hell Of An Amen, climbed up to number one on the country radio charts.
That’s four off two albums for the rising country superstar.
Now he’s ready for the next single off his latest album and it sounds like another solid hit.
Stone Cold Sober – Brantley Gilbert
It’s a relationship song. I wasn’t sure which way it would go with the title. I thought maybe it would be about redemption and looking back and realizing that maybe a guy can have too much sometimes.
But this has an interesting twist. It’s about a guy that seems to be in one of those relationships with a girl. The two either haven’t been together or they have been in the past, but for some reason they’re apart now.
And the guy was out drinking and did a drunk dial. He’s awake now and the obvious thought would be that it was just the drinking that made him say those things the previous night.
But now he’s stone sober and he feels the same things. He needs her and he hopes she’ll have him.
Pretty cool lyrics, but the melody is really the story for this one. It’s catchy and passionate. It fits right in with the way country radio has been going the last few years.
I like it. To me it sounds like another solid hit. I don’t know if it’ll be another slow burner on the charts or if country fans will latch on to this one.
Let me know what you think.
