I think this is my first introduction to Steve Moakler. Sometimes when I look at these new songs I google the person thinking that I might know them.
But then other times I think I should just go into it with a clear mind. Blank. No background on the person. Just look at the song for what it is.
So that’s what we’re doing on this one…
Suitcase – Steve Moakler
This is kind of a song about life and about love. Maybe a little more about love.
The hook in the song is that the guy doesn’t really need all those unnecessary things in life. We’re in the middle of the craziness of buying things…crap really. Do we really need big screen TVs and all that? I’m guilty of it.
But when you really start thinking about life and what’s important you can get by with so much less. And that’s what this song is about. It’s about realizing that you are grateful for having someone special in your life. You’re really happy when you’re with that person and all the other stuff is just gravy.
And this song has a really catchy little melody. It’s more groovy than catchy. It’s not something you’re going to be dancing to at a club, but it fits right in the middle where you can groove to it in the car or when you’re cooking in the kitchen or chilling on the back porch with a glass of wine.
It’s just a really cool song. I like it. Now I have to go see if I’ve heard of Steve Moakler before…
