I feel bad that we don’t have all of Taylor Swift’s song on the site. She’s been the biggest thing in country music the last few years. It’s because of her that an entire new generation of fans listen to country music. Even though Taylor is a little more pop than country there is still a place for her in country music.
I’ve been hearing this latest song, the title cut from her last album, for a few days and thought I’d share my thoughts.
Red – Taylor Swift
Pop music seems to be defined by two things. The first is that it’s popular with the majority of the listening audience. The second is that there are hooks everywhere. It’s all about something catchy with pop music. Even anti-pop bands like Nirvana never made it big until they focused on catchy melodies.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. Taylor has been trying to bring her music to as many people as possible and her songs are really catchy and enjoyable.
This one is pretty catchy too. It seems to be another song about love, which by now Taylor fans know is a topic dear to Taylor’s heart. She’s had some struggles, but if you’re not out there trying to find love you really don’t know what you’re doing.
I give Taylor credit. She does her thing and fans love it. She doesn’t really have a home in music anymore. She transcends genres and has made her own brand of music. She’s the modern day Dolly Parton.
And this is a great song.
