Usually I have a little theme for the Throwback Thursday. An artist might have a new single coming out and it’ll remind me of a great song they put out a few years ago. Or sometimes I’ll read an article about a classic artist and I’ll throw it back to one of their biggest hits or to one of my favorite songs of theirs.
For this week’s throwback song though I’m not really bringing a theme. I just wanted to play one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite artists. The song is Every Time My Heart Calls Your Name and the artist is John Berry.
John was a big time artist in the ’90s. He was selling lots of records and people were loving his songs on the radio. But it seems like he kind of gets forgotten a little bit, but I still hear his songs on the radio once in a while.
There are a handful of songs we could have looked back on, but I wanted to check this one out again. It wasn’t John’s biggest hit, but I thought it could have been a bigger hit than it was. It only reached #34 on the charts, but it’s hard to tell what happened.
The single was the fourth off John’s Standing On The Edge Of Goodbye album, which was a huge record. Sometimes the last singles on records get short changed a bit as the label gets anxious to move to the next record.
I don’t know what happened, but today we’re celebrating a great song from a great artist.
