Craig Morgan has seemingly had to fight his entire career for success. He’s been on a few different labels and success never has seemed to come easy for him.
For a regular person or even a regular recording artist they would have tried for the first few times and probably have moved on, but with Craig you had a guy that was never going to give up.
That led to a really strong string of hits starting back in the ’00s and he’s still going strong today.
Back in 2005, Craig was really hitting his stride as an artist. He was finally putting some singles together that were hits at radio and late in that year he released I Got You.
I remember hearing back around that time in an interview that Craig did that he had written the song with plans of pitching it to Keith Urban. It definitely has that kind of Keith Urban feel to it.
I can’t remember what Craig said happened with pitching it or not pitching the song, but he ended up recording the song himself and it turned into a #12 hit for him, which is a really strong single.
So it’s been about 10 years since this song was released and spent time on the charts. I think it still stands up well. It certainly fits in with the country that was being released at the time, but it also sounds like it could be a hit at country radio today.
Craig has been around for a long time in country music and I hope he’s around for a while longer. I still like going back and listening to his now classics including I Got You.
