This past weekend I was doing some driving to visit family and I was listening to Prime Country on SiriusXM. Deborah Allen was doing one of her great interviews and this time her guest was Ty Herndon.
Ty Herndon was always a favorite of mine. His Greatest Hits record was a CD I wore out in my car over the years and I still play it on iTunes today.
Ty shared his story about how he worked in Nashville for years. Then he went on Star Search and did well, but didn’t get a deal. Then he sang in a variety show in Texas until he got a record deal.
Now you get a deal and it doesn’t mean anything, but Ty’s producer had a great song called What Mattered Most. It went to number one fast and Ty was off and running.
But then the challenge is the second record and it was on that album that we get our throwback song today, Living In A Moment.
Talk about a great song. It’s a great message song about appreciating the things we love and that we have in life.
There are always negative things you could focus on, but how about appreciate the moment you’re living in right now with the person or people you love. There are so many reasons to be thankful and I think that’s the message in this song.
I’ve always loved the song and it was obvious in the interview that Ty appreciates the song probably now more than ever.
I can’t remember where I read it or heard it, but I swear I read another interview where he talked about coming off the road after the success of that first album and he was struggling with life and his producer had Living In A Moment ready to go and Ty was blown away and it came across to me like Ty thought like he didn’t deserve this song.
But I’m glad he recorded it because it’s become a country classic.
