This used to be one of my favorite songs. I loved when it came on the radio when I would ride the bus into school. I was probably the only kid on that bus that was a Leann Rimes and country music fan, but that was alright with me.
This was just a catchy tune. I don’t think it was a huge hit and I don’t think it’s well remembered, but I still like listening to it now and then. We just reviewed a song off Leann’s new record. It was a great one and now that it’s Throwback Thursday I thought we could look at one of Leann’s classics.
Nothing New Under The Moon – Leann Rimes
Leann was really great with these kinds of songs. She was only a teenager back in those days, but she could really sing a great country song about love and life. I don’t know how young singers can do that, but I suppose in the music business they’ve probably experienced more than those of us living in the regular world by that age.
And we can’t discuss a Leann Rimes song without discussing her voice. She came out strong with great hits that were kind of in the traditional and even in the christian world. I really liked her traditional sound, but this song and a couple others that came out around this time were more modern sounding and she nailed them.
I love looking back on songs from the ’90s. Leann was one of the biggest stars back then. She was selling just as many and maybe even more record than Faith Hill and Shania Twain. Okay, maybe no one was selling like Shania, but Leann was right up there.
Great song here that’s still one of my all time favorites.
