This week I heard that Ronnie Milsap is having his entire collection re-released as remastered CDs. Some of his records haven’t ever been released on CD before so this should give classic country fans an opportunity to get their hands on some of the best country music of all time.
Maybe you think that calling Ronnie Milsap a legend is over doing it, but this man is one of the best of all time. And I don’t think that applies only to country music. The man overcame as challenging of a childhood situation as can be and reached heights that many of us only dream of. The guy is amazing and the really amazing thing about it is that his music sounds as good today as it was when he was releasing number one hit after number one hit.
It was difficult choosing a song to include for this Throwback Thursday so we might have more in the coming weeks, but (There’s) No Gettin’ Over Me is one of the best songs of all time. It’s well written and Ronnie knocks the vocal out of the park like always did. You could always feel like he had gone through these situations. And that made it easy for listeners to relate to.
How great is this lyric? It’s about someone that walks out on their significant other. Well, maybe it’s about someone who is thinking about leaving someone. The person that might get left is sitting there like, “Hey, go ahead and leave. But remember that there ain’t no getting over me.”
I love it and so did tons of other country fans.
