It’s time to throw it back on Thursday once again. I love this weekly post. It gives me a chance to look back on some of my favorite songs. If you’ve been following CML for a while you know that my tastes tend to skew in the ’90s, but I can’t help it. That’s when I grew up and it’s when I fell in love with country music. And one of the songs I still like listening to is this classic from David Ball.
Thinkin’ Problem – David Ball
You just can’t beat a country song like this. The classic sounding steel guitar is prominent throughout the song and you get a traditional country vocal from David Ball. My favorite part of the song, though, is the opening when David rips into the chorus right away. I love a song that does that. There aren’t too many that do and I think it’s pretty cool when an artist can pull it off.
This song was a huge hit for David and some might think it was his only hit. But the album that this song came off of had a couple other hits and a few years later David climbed all the way up to #2 on the charts with the song Riding With Private Malone. He’s a storyteller and he’s also a great country singer.
I know David is still out there performing so if you’re looking for a little walk down memory lane with some great traditional country music you’d be hard pressed to find a better concert than one by David Ball.
