Lorrie Morgan is well known in the country world for her personal life. The marriages, the struggles; we’ve all heard it all over the years, but something I always admired about Lorrie was her ability to brush off all that talk. It didn’t really ever seem to bother her; at least not in public. I’m sure it had to be tough, but Lorrie seems like the kind of woman that is confident in who she is and she loves life.
And when we think of Lorrie Morgan today we can’t do it without admiration for her career. She released a duets album earlier last year with some really great songs with Pam Tillis. It’s a reminder that Lorrie was one of the greatest artists in country history. She was the first female artist to have three straight platinum singles. She was selling just as many records and having just as many hits as her Class Of ’89 counterparts – Clint Black, Alan Jackson, etc.
Lorrie had a string of hits that still get played on radio today including Five Minutes, What Part Of No and many others. Those are classic songs and it’s a testament to how good Lorrie’s career has been.
Here is one of my favorite songs from her that I heard on ’90s country on AOL Radio earlier this week. It’s a great song and you can hear the power and confidence in Lorrie’s voice.
Great song from one of country’s all-time greatest artists.
