I grew up in the ’90s and so the country artists from that era are some of my favorites. I have to put Sammy Kershaw in that collection of great artists. He had so many hits during the ’90s and so many of them are still heard on the radio today.
He had all kinds of different songs. You have the one about the love of a woman, She Don’t Know She’s Beautiful. And I love his tongue-in-cheek ones, Vidalia and Queen Of My Double-Wide Trailer. Those are so great.
Now Sammy is still out there on tour and he’s even releasing new music. Check out the title track from his latest record.
The Blues Got Me – Sammy Kershaw
We don’t really have to worry about Sammy putting out bad music at this point. He’s proven that he’s had an ear for a good song. All of his albums had good songs including all the hits, but also some of the album cuts could have been classics.
I haven’t read too much about this new album, but from the title track it seems like Sammy is getting into the blues music a little bit. That’s probably a little from his past and his love of all kinds of music.
The song is certainly done in the blues style. And the song itself is about the blues and how the narrator is kind of looking all around and realizing that maybe things haven’t been going so well for awhile. Sammy seems like a pretty upbeat guy, but everybody gets the blues once in awhile.
