Holly Williams has a new song out about life on the road.
Let’s get right into it with a live version.
The Highway – Holly Williams
It’s gotta be difficult for artists when it comes to writing. So much of their life is spent on a bus or in a hotel room. What else are they supposed to write about other than the life they’re living?
Yet it’s difficult sometimes for listeners to connect with road songs.
Road songs do work out great sometimes. I think what it takes is a really good melody with emotional lyrics. This song is a great example of that. Even if you aren’t living life on the road you can feel the passion in Holly’s voice.
The song is catchy too. By the end you catch yourself singing along with the chorus. I like this version because it’s just a girl up there with her guitar. The roots of the song come through and you can hear that it’s a good one.
And today there are plenty of people that can relate to this song. They might not be on the road playing music, but they might be away from their families for work. It might even be spending extra time at the office.
That’s what’s great about country music. You get songs like this and even if it’s not exactly your story you can connect and it makes you feel like you’re not the only one out there feeling a certain way.
Great song here from one of the under the radar artists in country right now.
