A new artist to us here at CML.
Here is one that’s a little below the radar in the country music world.
The artist is John Timothy. He’s new to us here at Country Music Life. But I’m always open to hearing new artists and checking out new country music.
His new song is on Spotify right now so you can check it out there and in a few other places it looks like. The full album comes out pretty soon if it’s not out already so look for that too.
Let’s check into the song.
The Longest Line (Daniel) – John Timothy
This is one of those songs that seems to have different layers. I can’t tell exactly what the story is in the lyrics. At first it seems like it’s a song about life, but maybe it’s about some kind of love. It’s one of those that you probably have to listen through a few times to find the depth.
What you can tell from the performance is that there seems to be something going on below the surface. It seems like something dark might be happening. That’s the sense you get from the sound and the feel. It’s kind of like an old country song in that way. Those songs about prison and the dark side of life.
This one is definitely different than what you’ll get from more modern sounding country music. This one is rooted in the traditional. Kind of the outlaw side of things and maybe even a little grittier than some of those songs were in the ’60s and ’70s.
This is an interesting one. I’m curious to see what you think.
