I felt one of the biggest stories of 2012 would be Thomas Rhett.
Well it’s time for the first single. Check out Something To Do With My Hands and see if you’re ready to become a Thomas Rhett fan.
Something To Do With My Hands – Thomas Rhett
It’s fun. It’s catchy. What else would you expect from a kid in their early twenties?
I think Thomas Rhett has something special for a new country artist. He doesn’t take life too seriously. He’s not trying to be anything he isn’t. He’s a 20-something kid writing and singing about the life he’s living right now. I think that’s what the best songwriters have always done throughout history and while I can’t give a title like that to TR yet I do have to give him credit for a great song.
This debut single should climb right up into the top ten on the country charts. Something To Do With My Hands should bring a collection of kids back into country music. I’m not talking about the Taylor Swift fans (she still rocks). I’m talking about the kids that are a bit older.
Plus, Thomas Rhett also appeals to the guys in the crowd. This is a kid you feel like hanging out with; shooting some pool and throwing some darts. He seems like a fun guy and if there are girls around you know the guys will want to be around as well.
Something To Do With My Hands is the kind of song that is playful enough to not be taken too seriously. It’s an approachable song that should do well with country radio. There is nothing too crazy about it so it shouldn’t scare anyone off. Yet there is the playful topic of the lyrics that might turn a few conservative heads. Maybe that will be the little controversy TR needs to get some press as the single starts climbing the charts.
We will see over the next few months. I see this song doing well on radio as the spring months turn to summer. The campfires will be lit. The guitars will be out and the kids will be cranking up some Thomas Rhett.
I’m a fan already.
