Thompson Square has a gold country single.
Their first big hit is still climbing the country charts. Just as the song is cresting on the charts their album is hitting the peak on the albums side. This country duo is coming into their own and finding a bunch of country fans ready for everything Thompson Square has to say.
A track I’m liking on the duo’s album is the opening song I Got You. The song is upbeat and really gets things off to a nice start. It’s a simple song about two people being in love. They don’t really have much to their name, but they have each other and in this life there really isn’t much else two people need.
This husband and wife have chemistry on record. They really have something special and believable. With I Got You you can really picture these two enjoying life together as struggling musicians. It can’t be easy to put in the kind of struggle it would take to make it in country music. Now to put all that stress on two people married to each other would be crazy.
There must be real love between this country duo though. They are happy to sing about how much they love each other. Songs like I Got You are the kind of country songs that make me smile. It lets folks out there know this kind of love is possible.
The duo co-wrote the song with another one of my favorites in the country world – Jason Sellers. Maybe that’s why I give the song a little tip of the cowboy hat here, but nonetheless it stands out as a great track on a great record.
