Top Country Songs of 2010 – Part 3
30) She Won’t Be Lonely Long – Clay Walker
Clay Walker has been a factor in country music for over 15 years now. That’s an amazing run for a country artist. Most acts aren’t able to find success for that long especially on the singles charts. In 2010 Clay was able to take himself to the upper regions of the charts with She Won’t Be Lonely Long. The song is about a woman that recently had a break up with another man. The narrator of the song knows he can make her feel loved and wanted again – no more loneliness for this girl. Clay is on the way to help. It was great hearing a quality country artist like Clay back on radio. He is such a talent and has a knack for choosing great songs.
29) Temporary Home – Carrie Underwood
Carrie Underwood has taken on a roll of issues in her young career. She seems to have a concern about the world and struggles people have with life. In 2010 Carrie took Temporary Home to the tops of the charts. The song is about a few different people that are going through some loneliness in their lives. They get through with the hope that their current situation is not permanent. The thought of improving life and making things better is what drives us all to work hard and stay positive. Carrie is such a great person for recording these types of songs. It’s great to see them race up the charts and connect with so many country fans too.
28) Roll With It – Easton Corbin
Easton Corbin achieved a difficult thing with his first single – it went number one. As 2010 rolled on Easton Corbin achieved an even more difficult thing – Roll With It went number one. Two number ones to start a career is nearly unheard of. Even the big stars like Tim McGraw, George Strait, and Garth Brooks didn’t do it. I think Clay Walker is one of the only other ones to achieve it. Roll With It is a perfect summer song. The song is about rolling with the day and letting things roll off your shoulder. Hang with your girl, some friends, and toss the football around. What could make for a better summer day?
27) Put You In A Song – Keith Urban
Keith Urban had a strong 2010. As the year ticked on he readied his next album. The first single from the latest album from the Aussie singer was Put You In A Song. The fun track from Keith is about the wonder girls can have over men. The narrator in the song is so infatuated with a girl that he wants to put her in a melody so he can get her caught in his head all day. Songs and music have this wonderful ability to overtake our day and run our emotions. Women have the safe effect. Putting the two together in a song was a great idea it made for anther great track from Keith Urban.
26) Water – Brad Paisley
In 2010 Brad Paisley kept his string of big hits rolling with the track Water. In the song Brad describes his lifelong love of all things water. He loved swimming in it, boating in it, and doing a little fishing. Water makes life possible on this planet and it also makes for a really great song topic. The song reached number one over the summer and seemed to have a favorite place in fans’ hearts. The song took on extra meaning for Brad and his road crew after his touring equipment was mostly ruined during the Nashville floods of 2010. The crew worked over time to make sure the tour could still roll on and Brad gave a tearful thank you to them as the tour kicked off without a hitch.
25) Turning Home – David Nail
After a brief if forgettable stint in country music many years ago David Nail reemerged on the country scene a short while ago with the big hit Red Light. To follow up that track David released the song Turning Home. The song sees the narrator looking back on the times of his life during high school. The girls, the friends, everything from those good times of youth and immortality. The song was co-penned by Kenny Chesney, but it belongs to David Nail. He owns the song with his country soul. It’s a great song and one of the biggest of 2010.
24) Our Kind Of Love – Lady Antebellum
No band or even act may be bigger in country music right now than Lady Antebellum. The country trio is working through their second album and it yielded yet another big hit for the band with Our Kind of Love. The song is an upbeat kind of tune with lyrics about a love between a guy and a gal. This kind of song is perfect for the male and female lead singers of the group. They have the ability to sing duets and it’s become part of what they’re know for. Our Kind of Love reached the top of the charts in 2010 and became one of the top songs of the year.
23) The Man I Want To Be – Chris Young
Chris Young struggled on his first album to find a hit. It took a few years for his second album to come out. He finally found success with the single Gettin’ You Home as it climbed all the way to the top of the charts. Chris followed that track up with another number song in 2010. The Man I Want To Be is a song about a guy that strives to be a better man. He realizes he has things to improve on or else he won’t find happiness in life. It’s a powerful song and one that really showed the emotion and passion Chris can bring to a song. It’s a great country track from a rising country artist.
22) Little White Church – Little Big Town
A big story of 2010 was the return of Little Big Town. It had been a few years since the band had found success on the charts. They broke out with a big album a few years ago. Then they released another album, changed labels and saw a few singles get caught in chart purgatory. LBT made sure fans didn’t forget about them by getting right up in some faces with Little White Church. The song is sassy with plenty of attitude. For all the guys out there sitting on a relationship without popping the question this song laid down the law for the women.
21) All Over Me – Josh Turner
Josh Turner has been having success in country music for nearly a decade now. He’s finding the top of the charts with his last few as well so it seems the career of Josh Turner will be sustainable. In 2010 Josh had a top hit with All Over Me. The song is another positive, fun songs about love and enjoying life. Josh’s big vocals power the song yet there is a playful nature to the story of the song and the melody makes you smile each time the tune comes on. Josh is a great country artist and he seems to be rolling with his career right now. It’s great to see him on the charts. He’s keeping things a little traditional in the modern country world.
